cyanotypes

This collection was started in early 2022 and is ongoing. Cyanotype is an old photography technique that traditionally uses a light sensitive solution to create beautiful blue “sun prints”. The solution is made with Potassium Ferricyanide - a red iron salt, and Ferric Ammonium Citrate - a light-sensitive iron salt. It comes as a powder in two separate bottles. Add water to the bottles and mix in equal parts. It is non-toxic and one of the most earth friendly photo printing methods. I have experimented with other naturally UV sensitive chemicals such as turmeric, as well as watercolor and pigment powders to bring other colors to the mix. Read more about this technique here.
